HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLIN

Today Colin turned 57 so we had to celebrate. We had drinks at our place at about 4:30 and then 6 of us headed out to the Boiling Pot for a seafood dinner. It was very good. After dinner Suzanne and Armin came over for a drink. The dogs came over and Heidi sang Happy Birthday to Colin.....very cute!

OYSTERS ANYONE?

Last night was the second annual Oyster and Pork Loin Dinner, put on by Suzanne and Armin. They supplied the oysters and cleaned and cooked them and everyone else who wanted to come brought a side dish.

They bought a bag of Oysters right off the boat for $23.00.....talk about fresh! The next step was to scrub all the Oysters and put them on ice. Then came the shucking. Tray after tray went into the Club House. Some were served on the half shell and the others were B-B-Q'd on the shell with cilantro, cheese, and bacon bits. They were EXCELLENT! Colin figured he ate about 3 dozen.

It was amazing as we have had over 2 weeks of rain and yesterday it was bright sunshine and fairly warm.

SOME LOCAL SITES

The weather has not been wonderful since we have been here, but we have had some nice walks down along the beach road along the ocean.

Right at the end of the road you can usually find a flock of white pelicans, they are quite friendly and come towards the shore to see if you have anything to offer.

Every evening you can watch the Oyster boats coming in with their days catch. When we first got here they weren't even going out but now they are hauling several skids of oysters off of each boat that comes in.

SEWING TIME

Suzanne tried to find ready made valances but they were very expensive. I was enlisted to make the new valances. I spent 3 days sewing and produced 8 new valances. W also recovered the four dinning room chairs and made some matching napkins. It looked great!

SAME NEIGHBOURS....NEW HOUSE

Our friends down here, Suzanne and Armin, have a Class "A" Motor Home. They decided that they would like to have something bigger and a little more permanent down here. They purchased a used 37' Fifth Wheel from some people in another park. We went over with them to check it out. Although it was in need of a good cleaning inside and out the trailer was sound, so they bought it.

We spent a day there, Colin and Armin cleaning the outside and Suzanne and I inside. Suzanne thought they were going to have to replace the bathroom sink and wasn't sure what to do with the tub surround. She found the white sink under all the dirt and I found the white tub surround.....after a fair bit of elbow grease and scrubbing. The outside was just as miraculous, with a good scrub revealing a clean white surface.

The previous owners had an issue with the window valances so they took them down and threw them out. ???? Anyone who has ever seen an RV knows that the valances are part of the interior and match the furniture. Not sure what they were thinking.

They moved the trailer over right after New Year's. Colin was going to follow behind on the way over from the other park. He was in such a hurry to leave that he ran over the water faucet. Holy great geyser! Had to find Gaynor, the owner to turn the water off. One poor lady was in the middle of dying her hair....thank goodness she had some bottled water to finish the job. Funny thing.... the faucet flew off and was never to be found again.

The trailer was moved into place and they started to transfer everything over from the bus.

New Years Eve was just too much for Splash.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

New Year's Eve started out with a fantastic spread of finger foods laid out in the Club House. Of course what New Years is complete without the mandatory hats, noise makers and Hawaiian Leis. We ended up back at the trailer way before midnight but managed to stay awake to ring in 2007!

The next morning......oh no! More good food! The Club House was once again filled with a huge brunch complete with Orange Juice and Champagne.

Splash ended up in my decorations from the previous night. I think she partied into the wee hours without us.
