WINTER TEXAN APPRECIATION DAY IN PROGRESSO
Look at that baby, it's huge and I ate the whole thing! Just look at the size of it compared to the pop can.
Quite an impressive collection!
Carol Connor posing with the big fancy bike.
Fancy leather work on the seat of one of the bikes.
Even though it was Winter Texan Appreciation Day there was still a Military presence.
Carol and Fonda making their way down the street.Interesting Outfits!
Dancing Girls.......they could move in ways my body never did or ever will!
A view of the street that they had closed down for the celebration.
My day started at 6:45 AM. Get up, get dressed, walk the dogs then catch my ride to go golfing. I know, hard to believe I got up two Fridays in a row to go Golfing at 7:30! It was a perfect morning though. A little cool but no wind and bright sunshine (once it got up in the sky!) I actually had some really good shots today.
We got back to the trailer by 11:00 with just enough time to get changed and ready to go to the GIANT Hamburger place. It doesn't really have a name it's just the place with the big hamburgers. It's this little obscure place tucked into the back streets in Donna. No sign, but very, very busy. Silly us being first time patrons ordered a hamburger each and French Fries.....error! the burgers are about the size of a sandwich plate with homemade patties and all the fixings. DELICIOUS! While we were sitting there a bunch of bikers showed up on their fancy bikes so of course they had to be photographed.
Next we headed to Progresso for the Winter Texan appreciation Day. The place was a mob scene and really there wasn't anything else to see that was not there normally.....that is except for the strip club that was promoting their dancers. The men thought that was particularly interesting. Larry had to get a haircut so we decided that the best place to wait would be in Poncho's Bar. They were having a problem keeping up with the Margarita demand so they were not as good as they usually are.
On the way home we were going to have banana splits at the 2 for $2.00 place at the border but they had been so busy that they ran out of soft serve. At this point we decided we had better make a run to the Dairy Queen in Mercedes.
By the time we got back to the trailer I was very tired. We took the critters for a walk and then I laid down on the couch for a wee nap. When I woke up I finished my crocheting project and did the dishes, had a shower and answered some emails. And so comes to a close another actioned packed day with the Werner's.
