MY LEFE HAS BEEN UNEVENTFUL

Due to the fact that we have been working hard on finishing the last of 3 apartments, things have been a little boring around here. WE should be done the last one in about 2 days and then we are heading back up north. That should make for a few more interesting Blog entries.

Stay tuned for photos and stories as we begin the task of developing our property!

GOING BACK TO FERGUS

Shelly-Belly Love!

Since our lot did not close there was not much point in staying more than a week. The people who own the park where we have been staying were kind enough to let us store some things that we had brought up in their wood shed. WE also found a spot to store the boat so we wouldn't have to take it back. With everything stored away we left for Barrie. Princess Auto has cement mixers on sale so we thought it would be a good purchase as we have alot of cement work to do to build our steps and dock area. Cort met us there, we paid for it and then he loaded it onto his boat trailer and took it to his place. We will pick it up on our way back up in a couple of weeks.

We had some running around to do in Barrie and got that all done. We were back in Fergus by 7:30 and met Luke and Shelly in Elora for dinner. She is looking great! By the time we got back to the park it was almost dark......just enough light to pull the trailer in. Back to reality and rental work.

FISH FRY

Phin looking after Cort and Sherri-Lyn's suitcase.

We went out for breakfast this morning......very good! It was kind of drizzly and rainy so we just hung around the trailer for most of the morning and early afternoon. By about 2:30 it started to clear up so Colin and Cort took the boat out and went fishing again. They came back with another nice Pike.

Sherri-Lyn and I had dinner all prepared when they got back so I cleaned the new fish and we all enjoyed a great Fish Fry for dinner........there was alot of fish cooked and none was left!

OUR FIRST LOOK AT THE LOT FROM THE WATER

Everyone loaded into the boat.

Cort and Phin taking in the scenery.

Impressive Rock Face!
Our Lot from the water.

The Dock location.

First Fish!

Nice stringer of fish Sherri-Lyn!!
One of the Sunsets we can look forward to.

After making breakfast for everyone and cleaning up, Colin and Cort went out to finish getting the boat ready for launch. It seemed to take us forever to get organized and ready but we finally made it to the truck. Getting a fishing license in this area is surprisingly difficult. Apparently the Library sells them but it's closed on Saturdays. We finally found another place about 5 miles away.

We drove down to Monetville and launched the boat. After loading everything in we set out. Our lot looks pretty impressive from the water......a really pretty rock face rising out of the water. We did some depth soundings in front where the dock will be going. There is a shelf that goes out about 6 feet and then it drops right off to about 30 feet.

About a 5 minute boat ride takes you away from all the cottaged area and into a great fishing area! Sherri-Lyn asked Colin what fish were in the lake and he said, Bass, Pickerel and Pike. She proceeded to catch a nice Bass, then a Pickerel and topped it off with a good sized Pike. She totally skunked the guys.

We worked our way back to the dock and by the time we were loaded up again there was a beautiful sunset.

By the time the fish were cleaned, dinner was very late, but everyone had a good day.

COMPANY IS COMING

Cort, inspecting the waterfront.

Since the lot really is not ours yet, we decided to take down the bug room and hike back out with it.

Going down to see the lot.

Our resident nurse hard at work.

In the morning we had breakfast and then I kicked Colin out so I could get cleaned up as Cort and Sherri-Lyn are coming today and bringing up our boat with them. By the time Colin got back to the trailer I had everything cleaned up and even had enough time to have a little nap. They got to the trailer at about 3:30. After parking the boat we went inside and Sherri-Lyn removed Colin’s staples. We drove over to the Lot to show them what we hope we have purchased. I think that they were impressed.

A GLIMMER OF HOPE

We were at the Lawyers office by 10:00 and had a chance to read over the document in question. The problem was that all the members of the family who originally owned this land before it was divided up , 8 in all, have to sign off on this document to remove it from our title. On further investigation the other lawyer said that it could still be closed but would not be till next Friday as some of the signatures were coming from BC......by mail! We left his office feeling much better.

While we were in Sudbury we had some lunch and did some shopping. By the time we got back to Noelville had just enough time to drop in and cancel the delivery of the dock. They were very good about it and understood our predicament. They will hold the dock till they hear from us and if for some reason the deal falls through they will give us our money back.

By the time we were back at the trailer we felt a lot more positive that things would proceed.

PLANS ARE MADE TO BE CHANGED

Sighting the spot for the storage shed.

My first cleared path.

The bug room set up where the cottage will go.

First thing this morning we went out shopping for a dock. We checked two places and decided to go with the second one as their docks were built a little bit better and sturdier. Delivery to the waters edge just down the bay from the lot on Friday.

We then headed to the lot to do some work......set up our bug room, clear some juniper bushes, make a path down to the water and pick a location for the storage shed. We worked all day clearing the brush and moving rocks to make steps. Colin did a lot of pondering on how to place the dock. By the time we headed home it was raining and we were very dirty! I had messages on my phone so we drove to the “cell phone reception” spot and retrieved the calls............UH OH!!!! It was the lawyers office and the lot did not close ......there was a problem with some agreement that was registered on title. Since it was so late we had to find the lawyer’s home phone number and call him there. He did not sound hopeful at all! We made an appointment to meet at his office in Sudbury the next morning. Oh No! We have a driveway going in tomorrow morning, so that had to be cancelled. We also had think about our dock that was being delivered. We went home......very disheartened.....not a good night.

PAPER WORK AND MORE PURCHASES

We got up, had a coffee and headed over to do some shopping at Wal-Mart. We picked up a gas can for the chainsaw a new toaster and some other odds and ends. Then we pulled in the slides and headed for the lawyers office. We were very lucky and were able to park at a parking meter right in front of the office so we didn’t have to use any of the other parking lots.....which by the way were mostly full.

We signed the papers and paid the money and then headed over to The Independent Grocery Store to get groceries. We hit Costco where we picked up 3,100' hoses, 2 lawn chairs and some food items. Next stop was Home Depot to buy a Laser Level. At Canadian Tire we picked up 4 more lawn chairs. We hit the Future Shop to buy a Rogers cell phone........ neither Telus nor Bell work up here. Last stop was to Tim Horton’s to pick up a drink for on the way back to Noelville.
We pulled into the campground at about 5:30. I set to work sorting the trailer out and Colin headed over to the lot to check out a few things ie. Dock locations, Driveway location and Storage Shed location.

We had Salad and a Stir Fry for dinner and then finally relaxed for the night.

PURCHASES

Monday we managed to get away and were in Barrie by about 2:30. We made a stop at Princess Auto to buy a few things we needed at the new lot.......Chainsaw, spare wheel for the boat trailer and some other odds and ends. Then we headed to Cort’s to pick up a few things there.

When we got to Sudbury we checked out to see where the lawyer’s office was and check out possible parking spots for the truck and trailer. That done, we went to find the Wal-Mart and dinner. We didn’t have too many choices so we settled on Swiss Chalet......which was actually very good.
Early to bed as we have to be at the lawyer’s by 10:00 and we wanted to go to Wal-Mart in the morning for a few minutes.

ONE DAY DELAY

On Sunday we finished the second of 3 apartments that required our attention.......Yeah! Only one left! We would have been done on Saturday but Colin was in the process of putting up a light fixture in the kitchen and he accidentally dropped it ......on his head. It was about 2:30 PM when I took him over to the hospital and when I picked him up again it was almost 9:00. 5 staples and a tetanus shot later he was good to go again.......but of course we will have to go back to the apartment on Sunday to finish up. When we were done on Sunday we went back to the trailer and started packing up in preparation to leave for Sudbury the next morning. It was a late night but we got all done.

OH! DOES THE WORK NEVER END?????

Since we have been back from buying our lot there has been a lot of work happening! Loading garbage, cleaning up crap that other people have left behind in their apartments, cleaning up dirt, garbage and crap. I just have a real hard time understanding how some people can live the way they do. You would think that it was just today that they invented oven cleaner. And washing walls........who ever heard of doing that??

Anyway enough of my whining but I thought I should let everyone know that the nasty apartments have not consumed me........2 down, 1 to go!
