BACK TO THE SUNNY SOUTH

The 25th of February was my day to head back home after being with Shelly for 10 days. I was feeling alot better but still not perfect. Sherri-Lyn arrived around 10:30 and we had a short visit before she drove me to the airport. I managed again to get myself back without any problems. Sitting in the plane was the hardest as I was still not feeling perfect.

I arrived about 1/2 an hour early at the McAllen Airport so I called Colin and he was already on route. I sat inside and read for about 15 minutes and then went and sat outside to wait. The dogs came to get me too and they were very happy to see their mom back home.

WE stopped on the way home and had a late night breakfast since neither of us had a real dinner. When I got back to the trailer there were a dozen long stem red roses on the table and the trailer was cleaned up very nicely......a very pleasant surprise. It was good to sleep in my own bed again.

THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER

Uncle Cort was showing me stuff on his Blackberry......very cool!

Daddy and I were talking but we both fell asleep.

Oma made me a hat but I think I will save it for next winter.

I really like to rub Daddies beard.

My Favorite thing to do is to put my hands in my mouth....both at the same time!

I have also figured out how to make my little animals move.

McKenna and her bear.

Shelly doing some crafts with McKenna sleeping.

I have started feeling a little bit better. We got Shelly stocked up with wool so she can pursue her mission to learn how to Crochet. She has also been doing some punch needle projects. We bought a DVD that gives step by step instructions on all the stitches. She is doing a good job figuring it all out.

Cort and Sherri-Lyn came down on Saturday and we had a nice visit. We had steak for dinner.....correction.....they had steak for dinner , I had Chicken soup. They left shortly after dinner as it was snowing quite heavily and they were worried about the drive home.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE NURSE GETS SICK!

Looking after Shelly and McKenna has been great up until yesterday when I came down with a bad case of Gastroenteritis. At 4:00AM the pain was unbearable and we ended up having to go to Emerg. Since Luke had to go to work and Shelly could not be alone with McKenna, he dropped us all off and Shelly stayed with me. It was a less then ideal situation and one I don't care to repeat. Long story short, by 4:00 Pm that next day we were home and exhausted and just wanting to put the whole thing behind us.

I went three days without eating solid food and I am starting to feel better but still not perfect.

TORONTO AND THE COLD

So for those of you who know me well, you know that I have traveled extensively all over by all modes of transportation. What you may not know is that I have only traveled by plane, by myself once. I was excited to go see Shelly after her operation and spend some time with McKenna but was a little nervous about going all by myself.

The good news is.....I made it, had no problems and am spending the next 10 days in Mississauga.
I brought some craft to occupy Shelly's time and take her mind off of the pain. So far we have tackled Crochet and punch needle. We are making hats right now....how fun. McKenna is being a sweet heart, she had a bad day today but generally she has been very good.

I am hoping Colin is making out okay......I made him a big "Where Is List" and I think all of our friends are keeping him busy.

I hope that by the end of 10 days, Shelly is feeling much better.

THE REST OF OUR WEEK

Side view of my Birdhouse

Front view. The roof is made out of the seeds that come inside of them.

Tuesday I got back to finishing my accounting. It was a little bit of a nerve wracking morning as Shelly went in for surgery on her leg today. When I finally reached her she was back in her room and sounded pretty good. The operation was only 45 minutes and they used an epidural and nerve blocks instead of putting her right out. The pain did set in later in the day though and she sounded pretty rough.

It is hard not to be there but I am going home for 10 days on the 15th to help her out.

Wednesday was my "Gourd Bird House " class. We are taking these great big gourds, drilling a hole in them and hollowing them out, then painting the outside all up and turning them into birdhouses. I haven't done any painting in a long time and I really enjoyed it.

Thursday Colin and I did some shopping in McAllen and then met Fonda, Larry, Bob and Carol at the Sun Palace for dinner. They make awesome Sushi and I ate alot!!! It was very good.

Friday was more accounting and a happy hour on the street. I made home made Pico De Gallo with nacho chips.....since there was none left I assume everyone really liked it.

Saturday there was a craft show in the park. I wondered up and could not believe the amount of stuff they had. It was way bigger than the one in the fall when we first came down and way bigger than the one last year at this time. There were tons of people and lots of interesting ideas. I bought a bracelet and decided that alot of the other stuff I could make myself. Always good to go to these things for ideas.

DINNER AT OLEANDER PARK

Ed passing out the treats!

I started the day with aerobics at 10:30 and then I was suppose to play golf at 1:26 but the weather was cold and very windy so Golf was canceled. This was a good thing as I promised Frances I would make dessert for our dinner that night and would not have had enough time.

We had a few stops to make in McAllen before we got Ed and Frances so we did that and then headed to Mission where their park is.

Zaphod and Mexi have a tenuous relationship and when we got there Mexi decided that she would rather get back in the truck and stay there. After some coaxing she came out and sat with Colin and then Frances and I took all the dogs for a walk around the park.

For dinner we had soup and a stirfry which were both good and then my Pina Colada Crisp, which we all agreed would be even better with some rum and whip cream. I have made a mental note for the next time.

We had a nice visit and left around 10:00 to head back to Mercedes.
