LAST NIGHT AT RUSTIC COVE

Finally I got some better chicken pictures.

!I think their faces are hilarious!

Dorrace loves to give Colin a Big Hug and Kiss and watch him blush!

Splash was so excited about her bath she got into the shower and waited for me to show up.

One soogy little white dogTwo pretty girls all ready to head home.

Yesterday we made a trip into Fulton to have one last visit with Suzanne and Armin. We also visited with Dorrace. After our visit we made one last trip to Pop's Restaurant for a meal of Oysters. They were as always delicious.

Today is our last day in Rustic Cove. The day was spent preparing for our trip home. Colin went out and picked up a few things while I washed and groomed the dogs, cleaned the whole trailer inside from top to bottom and moved the furniture in preparation for the trip home.

LIFE ON THE FARM

Unfortunately I didn't get a real clear shot of their faces. They have red waddles that stick out from their beaks and from the back they look like they are wearing red earmuffs.

the morning welcoming committee.

Our first morning at the new park proved interesting. I was up early and in the process of making a tea when I heard all this commotion outside the door. I looked out the kitchen window to find a flock of Guinea Hens pecking away at the ground and having a very large discussion about the whole thing. I opened the door very quietly and managed to snap off a few pictures before they hightailed it to safer ground. They are regular visitors to our site and the dogs go crazy when they see them outside.

We have spent most of the time here in the trailer as Colin and I both have some very nasty colds. Colin has this wonderful barking cough and I have my sinus and ears completely plugged. It's like I am living inside my head......not a fun place to spend quality time. I just know that one day soon I will swallow and my hearing will coming rushing back to me.

Our friends Suzanne and Armin came by on Monday to say hey. Wedesday we met them for dinner at the Chinese Buffet in Rockport.

Thursday morning Cy and Audrey some other friends from Fulton stopped by with Suzanne and Armin. they wanted to check out the park we are in. We had coffee out at the picnic table and caught up on everyone news.

We had a quick lunch and then headed to Corpus Christi to do some shopping. There is a really good fabric store there and I just had to go for one more stock up. Before we came home we had dinner a Rudy's BBQ and then came home to take the dogs for a walk and relax for the rest of the evening.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END

This is the home of Splash and Mexi's friends "Scare Face" sleeping on top of the car and "Moma Cat" who wasn't home when we took this shot.

Scareface is looking a little rough but he definately has charachter.

Our street (Juarez) at Llano Grande....the Red truck is ours.

Our site at Rustic Cove.

So somehow without us noticing it got to be March and time to say good-by to our friends in the Rio Grand Valley and start our trek Northward. The dogs will miss their cat and dog friends and we will miss our human friends......but then a change is as good as a rest.

We are trying out a new park in Rockport called Rustic Cove. It is really new has 40 RV sites and some cabins. They are still working away at it but I guess due to funding cut backs they had to postpone some of the work they had planned for this year. The owners are very friendly and what they have completed looks really nice. It is about a 10 minute drive into Rockport but still away from the busy downtown. The sites have nice concrete pads and they are all surrounded by trees, a very nice quiet setting.

If we like it we will probably book for next fall for a few weeks and then again in March. We will see how it works out.

ONE LAST TRIP TO MEXICO

The gang at Red Snapper.

Chuck and Lorretta in the forground with Jenny and Donny in the back.

The wind up ............and

The smooch!

Jerry winding up for a big smacker!

Colin making the big purchase.

Carol and Fonda with their roses.

Somehow Larry got Fonda's rose and was the happiest guy on the street!

It seems like I have left everything to the last minute. Medicine for the dogs, Sunglasses for Shelly, A little Mexican dress for McKenna , a Pedicure and Dinner and of course one last stop at the Duty Free for some Rum, Brandy and Kahlua..... not alot if you say it fast.

First off was the mission of the Sunglasses, Shelly told me to try and get 5 pairs for $20.00 as they are normally $5.00 a pair. A little bargaining and that mission was accomplished. Heart worm and Flea Medication for the dogs.....no haggling here, $23.95 per box, still cheaper than at home. Next was the pedicure.....walked in and sat right down, Colin decided to have one too so at least I had company. With pretty, shiny new toes I set off in search of the dress. I found 2 I liked so I got them both for under $18.00.

Dinner was at the Red Snapper with the usual gang and Colin bought all the ladies in the group a red rose.......I think he was trying to make a point with guys who don't tend to buy their ladies flowers that often. I think they were all impressed.....the ladies anyway.

Last stop before crossing the bridge was the Dufry, there the list was complete!

We had coupons left over for Dairy Queen so 10 of us went their for Blizzards.....the coupons are 2 for 1 so its a good deal.

Back home to the trailer to stow the loot!

LAST WEEK AT LLANO GRANDE

My birdhouse with Hummingbirds.

Baby Logan's Fishy quilt.

Seems like the winter has just flown by. This year has been quite busy for us as Colin has taken up Bridge and I have joined the "Birdhouse Gourd Class" as well as golf, aerobics and regular trips to Mexico. Who said retirement had to be boring!!

We played our last game of golf on Monday. I washed down the trailer and cleaned the windows on Tuesday and I attended my last bird house class today. I finished my second Birdhouse and was quite happy with the results. Colin goes tonight for his last Bridge game. I think he will really miss that this summer.

My last sewing project before packing up was a quilt for our new Grandson that will be born in July. I was very happy with the results of that as well.

We have the plans completed for our new home in Monetville and have placed the order for the logs. It's all going to be very exciting! Although it will be alot of work.

On Thursday we will make our last trip to Mexico and then Sunday we will make our way up to the Rockport area for a one week stay at Rustic Cove and a visit with some friends there. After that it will be homeward bound....back to Canada.

ROPA USADA.....SAY WHAT????

Loretta at the top of the heap!

Chuck looking on in amazement!

I don't know.....what do you think of this ??

Scaling the mountain of clothes.

The best find of the day were these "5X " pants that I think all 4 of us could have gotten into.

Unopened bales line the side of the warehouse.

Hmmm, where do I start???

Shortly after I got back from Toronto my neighbours Loretta and Chuck decided to take us to a "Ropa Usada" which means used clothes. They are huge warehouses filled with bales of clothing, new used, bedding linens and clothing of every description . They open up a bale on the floor and every one dives in to see what they can find. How fun is that!!

Some of the piles are 20 feet high and you just start climbing and pulling stuff out to see what you can find.

The Mexican people there get very possesive of their stuff. "Don't Touch Their Piles"!

You start by finding a pillow case or a bag of some kind to put your findings in and then go hunting. I found a very nice quilt, fleece jacket, sweater, some baby things for both McKenna and for Baby Logan. When you have gathered everything you want you take it over to the weigh scale and it gets weighed, then you pay anywhere from .30 to .50 cents a pound. We went to two different places and I spent under $10.00 and had two huge pillowcases filled wth stuff.

Although you really want to have a shower after you get out and of course wash all the stuff you bought it was great fun and something I will definately do again!

After we were finished we drove to Sun Palace for some well deserved lunch......very good. I got my fill of Sushi for the day. Definately a fun day out!

SIDE TRIP TO SOUTH PADRE ISLAND

Enjoying some drinks on the Balcony.

Two far pools ans the gulf beyond.

View of the Tennis Courts from the Balcony.

View of Main pool from the balcony.

Our neighbours from 4 years ago at Llano Grande have since decided that they enjoy the South Padre Island area more. Due to ill health of their parents they did not come down last year but have returned again this year. We always try to make a trip down there to see them. they came down this year in their fifth wheel but sold it shortly after they arrived. They rented a beautiful Condo right on the water. We drove down with Bob and Carol and spent a wonderful day sitting out on their patio overlooking the Gulf. Around 5:00 we drove over to "Mamacitas" Restaurant and had a wonderful meal. I had oysters and shrimp that were amazing and Colin had the Chili Relleanos also very good. We parted company after dinner and drove back to Mercedes. Before we left Candace gave me toys for the dogs.....which she has done every year since we met them. It was a fun day!
