PAINTING THE NURSERY

Mr. Octopus

The Dancing Lobster

The Sea Horse wrapped around the plant.

My personal favorite.....Mr. Sea Turtle.

I decided that these fish resembled Homer Simpson.

Mr. Crab who I see now is missing a back leg.

The bubble gum Jelly Fish.

Mama Puffer Fish and the Baby.

Coral and Star Fish

Friday afternoon I drove down to Barrie to help Sherri-Lyn and her Mom paint the nursery. The theme for the room was to be under the sea.

Before I got there Shelley, Sherri-Lyn's mom had painted the walls with a pretty blue and light green on the bottom to define the ocean floor and the water above. It looked really nice even just like that......but there was more to be done.

We got up early on Saturday morning and Sherri-Lyn's mom started to shade the ocean bottom, while I started to draw on the critters and the coral. Then we both started to paint. She did the rocks on the bottom and I started the fishes. It took us most of the day but I think what we accomplished turned out quit nice.

MAY'S PROGRESS

The spot cleared for the shop.

The shop hole filled in with stone and the footings in place.

Footings ready for cement.

Baby bottle?.....no.......sippy cup?.......no ..........plastic water bottle......that works!

Snuggle time with mommy,

Pops has very fun buttons on his shirt!

Look at me......I'm the cute baby!

Kisses from Mommy.

McKenna under the bug screen on the dock. She thought the net was too cool!

Test run in the new boat.

Shelly was very busy swtting bugs and the dogs were very excited to go for a boat ride.

This was McKenna's Christmas present from us ......we decided not to buy it till she actually needed it so we would have the right size.

McKenna really wanted to touch the fish......and did....much to my simay as she had just had a bath!

Nice Catch!

We have been up at the lot for 3 weeks now and have made major strides on the cottage and shop. We have our Septic Permit and the Building Permit has been applied for. The Building Inspector gave us the go ahead to start. With his blessing we have the footings for the cottage all ready to go....just waiting for concrete. The area for the shop has been dug out, refilled with stone material, levelled and then a trench dug out for the footing . The re-bar and welded wire mesh are sitting ready to go in.

On the 23rd Luke, Shelly and McKenna came up for 3 days. They started their Bunkie by clearing the area and putting in their footings.

McKenna is growing and changing so fast. She is eating food now and it is very fun watching her eat new things.

Shelly, Colin and Luke went fishing and Shelly caught 2 nice Pike which made a great lunch before they went home.

UH OH!!

How not to drive down hwy. 69.

We managed to dismantle the whole thing on the side of the highway. Thank goodness there was really no damage, except for a broken tail light and severed propane hose.
We headed back to Monetville on Sunday after Shelly, Luke and McKenna took me out for Mother’s day breakfast.

We have decided not to return to the park in Elora on a permanent basis so we cleaned up our site and took all our stuff. Because of this we were late leaving but had no stops to make along the way. Everything was going fine till we got just past Point Au Baril. Someone drove past us and flashed his lights and then we heard this sound. We pulled off the highway and when I went out to check out what was wrong I discovered that the back platform on the trailer which has the generator and the large aluminum tool box on it had broken on one side and we were dragging it. The propane connection to the generator had broken and there was propane spewing out. Very Scary!! We had limited tools with us but were able to dismantle the entire thing, put the generator inside the trailer along with the big tool box. We did not have room for the actual platform so we left it behind a rock on the side of highway 69. We arrived at the lot in the dark
but parking was much easier as it was now dry and snow free.....much better than the first time we arrived in the spring.

The happy couple in the Social Room.

Cutting the Cake.

With a lot of telling of lies and sneaking around we managed to arrange a surprise 60th Wedding Anniversary party for Colin's Mom and Dad. Just about all of our family was there. Colin's brother from out West, all of the Grand Children, and two of the 4 Great Grand Children. We were missing a few spouses but we did our best. We took them out to dinner at the Elora Mill Inn which I am afraid....due to the pathetic service that was comparable to a "Gong Show Episode"was not as nice as I had hoped. After that we had punch and cake back at the Condo. The happy couple cut the cake, opened gifts and cards and had some time to socialize with everyone that was there.

The celebrating couple were very tired at the end of the night but I think they were very happy to have seen all the family togther again in one place.

SOME VISITS ......A GOOD DIVERSION

Bonnie, Rick, Colin and the dogs heading down the hill.

The brothers sitting out on the rock.

Meet........."Buddy".......such a sweety.

Bernie in fine form!

We drove back up north on Friday night as Colin's brother was going to be visiting us there on their way to Fergus from Alberta. The weather was cool but sunny and they arrived around 2:30. It was Rick's birthday so I made him a birthday dinner.....complete with an ugly but very tasty birthday cake.

They stayed overnight and then the next morning they helped us unload the U-Haul at the storage unit in Noelville. Many hands make light work and we were done in no time at all.

Rick's friend Bernie has a cottage near us so they went to see him. He invited us over for dinner that night. We took the trailer to Sudbury to drop it off and while Colin did that I did the laundry......alot of laundry!

We had not seen Bernie for several years so we had a good visit and a great Rib Dinner! We also met his dog Buddy, a "HUGE" German Shepherd that thinks he is a Teddy Bear.

We all had a great time.

A FLOOD DISASTER

Oma's little "Mini Pooper"

We decided that we better just leave the trailer at the lot and go down to check out the damage. We picked up a U-Haul on route and Shelly booked a hotel room for us in Elora. First view of the mess was disheartening to say the least. 4" of water can do alot of damage. Shelly and Luke were a big help and they ended up staying at the hotel with us so they could help us again the next morning. The only highlight was that McKenna was there and she helped to cheer me up a little.

Insurance companies just scare me and now I know why they charge so much. They have waited so long to do anything with our flood that at this point there will be very little they will be able to save.
