SOME MORE JOBS DONE

McKenna in her very own Lawn Chair.

My new water toy Mommy bought me is so fun.

Mommy and Daddy teching me how to swim..........kind of scary but fun too!

I could get the hang of this.

The weather has suddenly turned very warm......at last and I think we have seen the last of the Black flies for this year. Now we have Mosquitoes and horseflies. We had a few days on our own and then Sherri-Lyn and Cort arrived along with Shelly, Luke and McKenna.

While they were all there Colin and Luke got the rest of the blocks laid on the shop and Cort worked on the dock. Shelly dug a trench and buried the water line down by the Septic System.

We bought McKenna a little pool for on the dock and she just loved it. She also thought being in the Lake was just great. I think she will be a little swimmer.

They all went fishing, only Colin managed to catch 1 small pickerel.

Cort and Sherri-Lyn left early as she is now 8 months pregnant and was having quite a time dealing with the heat.

Just before Luke and Shelly left we got our first drop of logs........they really are huge! ......Hope this is going to work!

COUSINS ON A HARLEY COME TO VISIT

Up to my shins in cement!

The forman giving the lackey instructions!

Colin enjoying a well deserved cold on on the steps with Jim.

Jim was on Holidays but it didn't take us long to find him something to do.

Arlene taking care of business.

Mr. Turtle having a sun bath.

Getting ready to go home.

Jim and Arlene heading back to Trenton on their brand new Harley.

Our Waterfront keeps changing.

Tuesday after noon after we poured the concrete my cousin Jim and his wife Arlene came for a visit. We have not seen them since Shelly’s wedding so it was good to catch up. They just bought a brand new Harley Motor Bike and were itching to take a big road trip and they thought this would be a good first .

On Wednesday Jim and Colin went down to the dock and started the process of building a new floor in the boat. Jim Measuring and fitting and Colin cutting the materials. Arlene and I went into town and picked up a few groceries and some beer. When we got back we went down with lunch to the dock and checked out the progress. We put the bug room up and watched as the boys finished up. They did an excellent job!

On Thursday I had to go into town for an appointment so we had breakfast, I left and when I got back we loaded up some beverages and snacks so we could head out for a boat ride. It was a perfect afternoon, warm and no wind to speak of. We saw a big turtle sunning himself on a rock so naturally he had to photographed. On our arrival back at the lot we all got cleaned up and headed down to the Country side Inn for all you can eat Haddock and Chips.......Yummy!
We did a little circle tour around the area and then went back to the trailer. As Jim and Arlene had to leave early in the morning we called it a night early.

Jim and Arlene were packed up and ready to hit the road by about 8:30. It was a great couple of days! Thanks for coming guys!

A LITTLE MORE PROGRESS

Block Work on the back wall almost done.

After we arrived back from our week-end in Barrie it was full steam ahead on the block work and the shop.

The lowest corner and the back wall are blocked up to the height they need to be. Just the sides and the front left to do. On Tuesday we poured the cement for the shop floor. We got exactly the right amount of Ready Mix which was good. The pouring part went very well, a lot of work but good. I had picked up the power trowel the night before so Colin was ready to go as soon as the cement started to set up. It did get away from in a few spots but for the shop it will be fine.

I have spent some time trying to get my garden started but it is slow going. I am not counting on Veggies this year.

Colin ripped the floor out of our boat as it was filled with water logged foam. Now all we have to do is build something back into it.

DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS AND VISITS

Amber coming out of the cupboard where the sewing box is kept.

Sleeping with his head against the hour glass.

Monday morning we head for Fergus early for our annual checkups and a visit with Colin's Mom and Dad.

I also visited where I used to work and talked to some of the girls there. We made tentative arrangements to get together the next time I am down.

Mom and Dad were happy to see us and we had a nice visit with them. I did a little bit of sewing for mom and after I got the sewing box out, the cat Amber decided that he would go in sit in it's spot. Very cute!

UNEXPECTED HOUSE GUESTS

Come on Splash.......we can take him down if we gang up on him!!
When we arrived at Cort and Sherri-Lyn's on the weekend the dogs were acting very peculiar.....we had not put the small slide out and they both were very interested in getting around the edge of it. I did a further investigation with the flashlight down the side and discovered a little pair of eyes peaking up at me. After about a 10 minute search I found the mouse traps (I have had this problem before) baited them with some nice processed cheese slices and within about 15 minutes caught the first little culprit. Number 2 was caught Monday morning and I think number three is still dodging the traps.

A WEEK-END IN BARRIE

Shelley talking to Sherri-Lyn's nursing friend Lisa.

Guests at the Fund Raiser.

Team "Sisterhood"

Hadley giving McKenna a big hug.

Sherri-Lyn opening gifts.

The loot all stacked up ready to go out to the car.

A very cute cupcake tree.

After pouring the footings on Friday we managed to get away with the trailer around 6:00 pm and arrived in Barrie at Cort and Sherri-Lyn's about 11:00. We would have been earlier but had to go to the Petrocan on the highway to dump our Black tank.

Saturday afternoon I joined Sherri-Lyn and her mom at a Garden Party hosted by the "Sisterhood" This is a group of 10 women, all of which have had close contact with someone who has had Cancer or have themselves had Cancer. It was a fund raiser and Sherri-Lyn's Mom had a huge roll in organizing the whole thing. There were balloon pops for $20.00 each with very nice prizes in them all, a draw for a Spa Day, mini Manicures for $10.00, pink ribbon jewelery, and a number of larger prizes that you could buy tickets for. There was food and drink and some wonderful company. They raised over $3,000.00 for the cause. "Great Job Ladies". Since Cort was away that evening we took Sherri-Lyn out to dinner at the Crook and Block. Shelly arrived with McKenna after we got home.

Sunday was Sherri-Lyn's baby Shower hosted by her sister and mom. She got a truck load of stuff for the baby......Stroller and car seat, glider rocker, lots of clothes, bath stuff and toys! Lucky Little Logan is spoiled already and he isn't even here yet.

When we got home Cort made us an excellent steak dinner. By the time we went to bed Sherri-Lyn and I had managed to sort through all the gifts, wash all the clothing items and put it all away.

FROM LET DOWN TO SUCCESS

The cement truck coming dow the driveway.

Colin manning the wheel barrow.

Just finishing up......I was pooped!

While standing waiting for the cement truck to go up the driveway, I noticed something pink just off to the side. Looking closer I found 3 beautiful Lady Slippers......so pretty!

Two smaller ones.

Once we got the forms all built for the footings, we were kind of let down because there were 1/2 load restrictions on the roads so we could not pour them right away. They told us June 15th these would be lifted. Wednesday morning we received a call from the building inspector to let us know they had been lifted.....YEAH! We called around immediately and found that Parry Sound would be the cheapest so we ordered from them for delivery Friday morning.

The cement truck arrived shortly after nine and the race began. In hind sight we should have ordered a pump but instead we had to wheel barrow the cement around the lower part of the footings. Poor Colin was beat by the time we were done! I didn't think that I would be much help but ended up shoveling and raking the concrete into place and leveling it with a trowel.......it was setting up very quickly so it's a good thing I was there to help. We finished just after 2:00 and then we had to clean up and hook up the trailer to head to Barrie for a much needed dump, Sherri-Lyn's Baby Shower and her mother's Cancer Fund Raiser.

We did not end up getting to Barrie till 11:00. When I finally go into the trailer the dogs were going wild! They were convinced that there was something in the trailer. After some investigation....I found 2 little eyes peering at me from under the small slide ( can't put it out at Cort's as there is not enough room). As I really did not want or need another house guest I went on the hunt for my mouse trap. My third guess at where they were proved to be correct. With the trap set it was time to hit the hay.....I needed sleep as I found out I hurt in places I didn't even know I had!
