A SAD BREAK FROM HOME BUILDING

Unfortunately we had to leave Noelville for a week as Colin's father passed away last Wednesday. He had Lung Cancer and was only diagnosed about 6 weeks ago....very aggressive.

We have to deal with some family matters before we can head back.

It did however give me the opportunity to visit with all my nieces and nephews and all the grand babies. The babies did help to lighten the mood.

MISSISSAUGA GARAGE SALE

All the stuff all set out

We thought we should put a price tag on McKennaOh Gosh! Enough of the Garage Sale already!

All of our clothing and soft items were returned to us from the cleaner after our flood ......the problem was where to have them delivered and where to store what we wanted to keep......thus Shelly's garage in Mississauga and a garage sale to rid myself of all the unwanted items. A lot of work for not a lot of money but it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling as one of the last ladies through bought just about all the left over bedding, pillowcases towels, blankets and comforters, table clothes and some clothing for a group home. She needed a receipt so she could get her money back from the director so she gave me $30.00, I gave her a receipt and I told her she could take whatever she wanted as it was going to goodwill anyway.

In the evening we had a steak birthday dinner for Luke and there were about 11 people invited. A good time was had by all.

It may be a while before you see another post as it just is not possible to upload on dial up!

WORK CONTINUES

Back corner of the cottage.

The back wall of the house....two more courses to go on the highest part.

The back corner of the cottage which will be the bedroom.....over top of our little bit of basement.

The shop is ready and waiting for the installation of the trusses.

Luke and Colin lifting one of the end pieces up into place.

The first gable end up on the bunkie.

Luke using the winch to put a log into place.

I must apologize for being so slow to update this blog but it just is not possible to do over dial up Internet. As I am at Shelly's in Mississauga for a few days this week I have the opportunity to use her high speed connection which makes the whole process a lot faster.

Between the rain and now the hot weather it has been a little trying to get stuff done on the construction of the cottage.

Luke and Shelly have the bunkie up minus the roof, windows and door. It looks awesome.

The cottage is looking good too although not as far along as we had hoped. The back wall is almost all up and the side wall is almost all up. These two are the most difficult as they are the highest. It is very tricky maneuvering the tractor around in there and placing the logs. So tricky in fact....Colin tipped the tractor over one day and we had to pull it with the truck to get it back onto it's wheels. We have our winch set up on the scaffolding to pull the logs into place. Colin has built little ramps to pull them up on and it is quite a site to see one slide up and into place.
