MORE BAD NEWS......WHEN DOES IT END

My happy baby girl.

Mom's cat cuddling up to the ceramic cat.

A Week ago Sunday morning at Shelly's we were awakened by a phone call from my brother. He informed me that my niece Teala - Anne passed away. She was in a wheelchair most of her life and was disabled. She finally lost her battle for life, to Pneumonia. We will miss her so much but we are happy that she is no longer in pain.

I spent a few days at Colin's mom's place and started the process of packing everything up for her move out west. Before I left on Wednesday night I had managed to pack 13 boxes and we sorted out the entire entertainment unit and part of the living room and china cabinet stuff.

Thursday Shelly, Luke, McKenna and I went to the visitation for my niece and Friday Shelly and I went to the Funeral.

HOSPITAL DISASTER!!

.Shelly with 4 bags of frozen peas to bring down the swelling.

Mckenna at the hospital.

Shelly had her operation on Tuesday afternoon and I got down to Mississauga on Wednesday night. Luke and I drove down to the hospital with McKenna to see her that evening. She seemed not to bad.

On Thursday morning I got McKenna ready and we drove to the hospital for a visit thinking that Luke would go that evening while I stayed home with the baby. Well it didn't quite go like that.

When I arrived Shelly was sitting in her bed in tears. The nursing staff was pathetic to say the least. They had taken out her Morphine IV and then proceeded to be late with her pain medication every time. They left her sitting on the bed pan and no one actually helped her bath herself the whole time she was there. There were just so many things they didn't do or did wrong I just can't list them all but the end result was that Shelly decided that she would be better off at home than in the hospital. Naturally by the time she was discharged it was rush hour traffic.......ya and I don't drive in downtown Toronto......well now I do. We made it home and proceeded to get the house set up for a patient on crutches......handle bars on the toilet, and benches in the bathtub. There were prescriptions to get and a baby to look after.

By day two Shelly was much happier, proper food, proper care, a full nights sleep and a real bath! She has quite a bit of Swelling and bruising but I think she will recover much faster than the last time

JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU HAVE EVERYTING UNDER CONTROL...........??

The Shop has the roof trusses on and the gable ends are up.

Back corner of the house.

One more log on the back wall!

Interior wall where the stairs will go up

Our life has been a bit of a whirl wind the last few weeks and is about to turn into a tornado! Colin’s mom has decided to move out West with her younger son Rick, therefore the Condo had to be placed on the market and plans made for what she will take with her and what will be sold off here. My sister-in-Law Bonnie has been a saint and has spent over a month here helping mom out. She is heading out East this week to visit her parents before she heads West again with Mom, so Colin and I were going down to Fergus to look after mom while she was gone ........wrong!! Shelly called this week and told us that a cancellation spot came up for her to have her other leg surgery and could I come down and help out looking after her and McKenna ......yikkes! So our plans have changed a bit. Colin will go down and help his mom out and I will go to Mississauga to help out there......unfortunately work on the house will have to come to a grinding halt! We did manage to get the trusses on the garage though and Colin has done the interior bedroom walls in the house. Hopefully he can get the top rows of logs on to hold everything in place over the winter but somehow I don’t think we will be getting the roof on before we leave for Texas. I guess we can only do so much. Who knows, maybe we will have a really warm fall and we can get more done than we thought.
