NEXT STOP BRITISH COLUMBIA
Just a bit of snow leaving Cheyenne Wyoming!
Billings Montana had all these crazy sculptures on the street.
We managed to leave the park by 12:30. just as we were finishing with the hook up it started to rain and the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. After heading for the front office to pay our electric bill, we hit the highway. It was hard driving as it was so windy, once we turned into the wind it was much better but the fuel economy was pitiful.
Around supper time we checked our route and realized that we were heading for the same town that Ed and Frances were staying in for a few days while they visited with her family. We had already planned to stop for dinner there and continue on further before we stopped for the night but I called her anyway and asked when dinner was suppose to be ready.....she sounded a little confused and then clued into what I was doing. Ed had come down with the flu yesterday and she had a trailer full of company so she really did not need us there too!
We had dinner at a really good German Restaurant in Fredericksburg, the food was excellent!! Would definitely go out of my way to go back there!
On the way back to the trailer I misjudged the height of a curb and went down on all fours, bruising my right hand and scrapping my knee and wrenching my right arm.......GREAT! Ouch!
We drove another 100 miles and then stopped at a Wal-Mart for the night. TROUBLE.....for some reason our new batteries were not charging and we had to dig out the generator to give them a boost. We were not anticipating having to use the generator so soon so Colin went out at midnight to get gas. We really need to run it because the temperature is freezing here. One day driving and I feel like I need my long johns ! At least there is no snow.
Day 2 of driving took us to Cheyenne Wyoming. The days trip was good with bright sunshine and warm temps even though we reached some elevations of just shy of 8000'.
The night before I was getting into the shower and Colin's razor was laying on the floor and naturally I did not see it. I stepped right on it and managed to put a nice gash in the bottom of my foot......Ouch!! At least I don't have to worry too much about walking on it as I am sitting in the truck most of the day.
We woke on day 3 to a lovely snow storm!!!! We waited for a bit on leaving as it was suppose to get better as the day went on but it just kept getting worse. We had to sweep off our slide in order to get it pulled in and then went and had lunch and then decided that we should probably make an attempt at leaving. The on ramp was slick and only one clear lane on the highway. As we drove it kept getting better so we made the right decision to leave.
By the end of day 3 we arrived for the night in Billings Montana. cold here but no snow on the ground.
The rest of our trip to Canada was uneventful. Crossing the Border was a breeze ........just one car ahead of us and a very nice lady who help ed us......no problems. We spent the last night of the trip just outside of Penticton.
