EXPLORING THE VERNON AREA
The remainder of the burnt trees.
A pass cut through the rock.
One of the many rebuilt trestles.
On one of the rebuilt Train Trestles.
Checking out the board with all the details of the reconstruction.
Ernie and Colin making their way across the bridge.
Since Ernie works Friday, Saturday and Sunday it gave Wendy and I alot of time to sit around and talk about old times but by Monday we were ready to get out and do some stuff.
We took a drive up to see the Kettle Valley Railway Tressles in the Myra Canyon. The tressles in this area were part of a rail system linking the coast with interior BC. Unfortunately a forest fire destroyed many of the tressles about 3 or 4 years ago. School groups and other organizations have done a lot work to rebuild the trestles and turn it into a biking/hiking path. It was a little scary looking down between the supports but the views were amazing.
After we were done there we did some shopping in Costco. We went home and we enjoyed a great meal of Steak, Shrimp and Salad with Strawberries and cream for dessert. Another great day!
